Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rubbermaid 220200 Wrap N'Craft 33-Inch Vertical Storage Container, ClearCustomer Review: Nice Idea. Poor execution. Summary: 1 Stars
I got this for $5 after Xmas @ Target and wouldn't recommend paying any more for it. Even though I don't have many rolls to store I thought it might be a good idea to start & save on wrapping for next year by storing them in this. While I'll still probably use it, it is extremely annoying. The plastic seems ok, however the design is not user friendly at all. The large container portion seems sturdy & you might pick this up if you plan on storing things uncovered, however the lid (2 pieces) is a nightmare. For starters, it uses 4 plastic clips which attach it to the top in such a way that it is loose on the top (not air tight) & wiggles, however it is almost impossible to lift it off. It requires 2 hands & much effort (ie. holding the big bottom portion between your legs & grabbing the top lid with both hands) to get it off. Within the lid there is a small (almost negligible size) flat compartment that is supposed to hold scissors/ribbons etc., but it's too small to hold anything more than a very thin pair of scissors and maybe one tape container and one bow. The lid that closes onto the top compartment in the lid is hinged so it lifts up & down, but it doesn't snap shut. So, if you're going to remove the lid, you better take out all the contents of this top portion or they will fly all over the place. Rubbermaid should have designed this so that the large lid portion hinges for easy removal of the rolls and the small compartment inside the lid attach by a secure locking piece.
Customer Review: Rubbermaid Wrap N' Craft 33-Inch Vertical Storage Container Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this item because I needed a place for my wrapping paper & the accessories. I had so much & thought that this would work. I bought it also because it was right after Christmas & found that it was on sale plus an additional 75% off. In the end I paid about $5.50 which includes the tax. This product is sturdy & strong. It's easy to see what's inside because of it being clear.
I had a few problems:
1. Many roles of wrapping paper wont fit because there too tall so you have to waste the paper & cut the roll down so that it will fit or just let it be loose outside of the container.
2. The top stoarge part for bows, tape & ribbon doesn't have much space. I would put something in it, but couldn't fit much because if I did things would always fall out when I opened it up. It is a small storage space anyway.
3. It did help my things become better organized, but I wish that I wouldn't have bought it. I would prefer something that could be stacked such as a box style storage container. It isn't easy to store because of it's shape & size.
4. This is not on wheels so it's alittle difficult to lug around. It has allot of storage space in the bigger section which is meant for wrapping paper. It easily & quickly becomes heavy once items are loaded & the container is filled to the max.
Customer Review: Expected better Summary: 3 Stars
This is fine for storage, but its a pain in the fingers to use during the holiday season. The lid is really frustrating to get off without some muscle and 4 arms. The top storage compartment doesn't have a latch or anything so if you're not careful when wrestling the lid off, you'll wind up spilling the items stored up top.
The other downside is this only holds shorter rolls of gift wrap. I'm sure that was the standard at one time but it seems the 35 inch+ paper is more and more common.
Lastly, vertical storage isn't very ideal with something as delicate as paper. Unless you've tightly taped up each roll, they will get wrinkled and torn being taken out and put back into a vertical container.
I'd highly recommend a horizontal under bed type of container. Rubbermaid makes some great ones I've re-purposed for my holiday gift wrapping needs.
Customer Review: Finally a place for everything Summary: 4 Stars
I'm so happy to finally have a place for all season wrapping paper. This product holds about 6-8 regular size wrapping paper rolls, gift bags, bows and tissue paper. The little flip part that holds the extras is good for tape, scissors, tags and a few (like 3) bows. The section doesn't hold a lot but it does the trick. You may need more than one depending on how much you'd like to store. I really like this product because I'm able to put a few gifts bags in with the rolls of paper and a sleeve of tissue paper and store in a closet while the rest of my Christmas paper is stored in the garage for seasonal use. I reccommend this if you're storing a medium size amount of paper for b-days, showers, and whatnot. Anything more and you may want to censider another product.
Customer Review: Great for Laundry...Not so much for Wrapping Paper Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased several of the Vertical Wrap'N Craft storage boxes several years ago but soon found out they were very hard to use. The top is difficult to open and the upper compartment is too small for common supplies (ie: bows, scissors, ribbon, tags, etc). Since these containers are fairly expensive ($15-$20 each) I was determined to find a good use, which I did. I now use these containers (w/o the lids) to hold dirty laundry. My kids each have 3 in their closets: one for whites, one for medium colors, one for dark colors. My husband and I have an additional one for dry cleaning. They are the perfect size for laundry loads and make sorting so much easier.
