The description on amazon is confusing and seems to conflict with itself, so let me tell you what I wish I knew before I bought this:
The whole system hangs on a flat bar that goes horizontally. That means if you want any additional vertical bars, you'll need to hang them on their own - keep that in mind for figuring out how many screws you need.
If you don't have drywall (like in a condo or apartment) you'll need your own screws and anchors.
To figure out if it will fit in your closet, the first section (2 vertical bars and a shelf, for example) is 26", while each after that is an additional 24". So if you'd like to have 3 sections, that would be 26"+24"+24" = 6'2". You also need 2" on the left end of the flat hang bar, so that makes it 6'4" wide. This is ONLY important if you're going to be hanging any permanently-wide add-on items like the pants rack as all the shelves that come with it are adjustable width.
I love the system, it looks great, but it was really difficult to put up in concrete walls. We figured it out and used our own screws and anchors, but wow... what a lot of work!
