Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rubbermaid Heavy-Duty Resin Base Cabinet #7085-00Customer Review: Rubbermaid 7085-00 Heavy Duty Cabinet Summary: 3 StarsPros: Easy to assemble. Heavy duty. Ships via UPS.
Negatives: Doors do not stay tightly shut even when padlocked. Design allows for easy content theft even with use of a lock. No provision for adding casters. Assembly instructions printed on box, no sheet provided. Overall, ok, but could be greatly improved.
Customer Review: Mediocre product; Rubbermaid Heavy Duty Resin Base Cabinet Summary: 2 StarsI purchased three of these cabinets for use in a wet location.
The parts are crudely made and had to be trimmed prior to assembly to remove excess plastic hanging off of almost every part. Not a big deal but a nuisance.
Assembly was very easy.
However, the tops and bottoms of the cabinets have holes that lead to the vertical posts at each corner of the cabinets. In addition to these large (1" plus diameter) holes that lead into the posts, there are eight smaller oblong holes (around each of the post holes) that lead directly into the cabinets.
In a wet or dusty location water or dust flow directly into the cabinets through these holes. If one drops a small item, such as a nut, bolt, drill bit, etc., into one of the larger holes, it is lost forever unless one empties and moves the cabinet to retrieve it.
Finally, the doors open and close satisfactorily if there is no weight on top of the cabinet. If you have things like flower pots that one is filling with topsoil, etc. (the purpose for which I purchased them), the doors bind badly and will not close.
Rubbermaid does not have plugs available for these open holes on top even though they look as if they might have have been formed with a view to their being stopped with a suitable plug.
Definitely a mediocre product.
Customer Review: Disappointed Summary: 3 StarsOverall the cabinet is serviceable.
There were no instructions in the box, but assembly is fairly straight forward. People without assembly experience might have problems. I assume there should have been instructions in the box.
The doors are far from smooth in operation and it appears it may be caused by the crude punch-out of material for the tubes to slide through. That acts as a hinge for the doors which end up binding on opening and closing.
This item was not up to the quality standard I have learned to expect from Rubbermaid over the years.
Customer Review: Rubbermaid Cabinet meets its task Summary: 5 StarsExcellent product, holds a lot of stuff. Easy to put together and all the parts were included. Would buy another one.
Customer Review: Garage Cabinets at a Great Value Summary: 4 StarsWe recently purchased several of these Rubbermaid products for garage storage in our new home. They are very affordable and are surprisingly sturdy. We had been forewarned (in an earlier review) that the shelves may start to sag if too much weight is placed on them, so we put all of the heavier items (such as 10 gal. paint cans) on the bottom shelf. Compared with the much-higher cost of stainless steel cabinets, these cabinets very adequately met our storage needs. Assembly is remarkably easy - if my extremly "unhandy" husband could do it in 15 minutes or less, anyone can! One note of caution regarding the doors: the plastic on the side where they affix to the cabinet does need to be trimmed, otherwise the doors will bind. This must be due to a slight manufacturing defect. They can be easily trimmed with an Exacto knife so it's no big deal.
